Norwegian Music and Food Festival


The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam
would like to invite you to a special Norwegian Music and Food Festival in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s death. The festival will take place on 7 September at Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel in Dar es Salaam.

15/08/2007 :: Norwegian and Tanzanian artists connected to the ”Umoja cultural flying carpet – Programme” will present pieces of Grieg’s work in a different and untraditional way.

A different performance
A very competent brass band from Trondheim, Norway, and the well known singer Helene Bøksle, from Kristiansand, will perform during the festival. Helene Bøksle will perfom together with her piano player Sindre Hotvedt. With Tarab musicians and dancers from Zanzibar and acrobats from Nairobi the cultural evening can become quite interesting.

2007 marks a century since the death of the Norwegian composer, humanist and sampler, Edvard Grieg. Grieg will be commemorated in Norway and abroad through concerts and various events through the year.

Norwegian delicacies
Besides music and dance, the evening will also offer Norwegian delicacies prepared by Chef Harald Berger from the Culinary Institute of Norway (Gastronomisk Institutt). Norwegian salmon, cured leg of mutton, caviar and cloud berries will be among the Norwegian bites.

The event will start at 19:00 hrs.

Ticket price: 10 000 Tsh.

Tickets will be sold at the Norwegian Embassy, Mirambo street, from 6 August.
