Visa Portal Norway launched

The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is launching Visa Portal Norway, a user-oriented self-service solution for visa applicants.

The Visa Portal is a solution where users may lodge their own visa applications online. The applicants will receive automatic support to complete the electronic application. Most of the boxes in the application will have to be completed in order to get the application sent. This may reduce the need to return applications that have not been completed correctly.

There is currently a pilot project at the Norwegian foreign service mission in Edinburgh that is testing the solution. The solution is established to be extended to several foreign service missions.

- We have great expectations for this pilot project, says Ida Børresen, Director General of the UDI. - The project means more service for our users, faster case processing and more efficient coordination within the Immigration Administration, says Børresen.

- This is just the beginning. We envision that work applicants, students and au-pairs will be able to apply for permits on the net over the next years, says Børresen.
