The Oslo Water Authority has asked all living in the capital to boil the water before drinking it, after a small amount of dangerous parasites have been found in test samples. So far no one has become sick from the parasites.

It is recommended that the water be boiled for at least three minutes, before it is used for drinking, in making food or for brushing teeth.

It is still unclear how serious the parasite find is, and for how long a period the restrictions will be in force. The parasites found are of the strains giardia and cryptosporidium. Experts are not sure that they will make humans sick, but do not want to take any risks, says Eivind Fjelldal of the Oslo Water Authority.
