The Child Welfare Services takes

over the responsibility for

unaccompanied minor

asylum seekers under

the age of 15

The child welfare services takes over the care of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers under the age of 15.

On December 18 2007, the new health/care centre was opened at Eidsvoll.

On December 1, 2007 the care for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers was transferred to the statutory child welfare services from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI). This means that children who come to Norway go directly to the care of the child welfare services. Eidsvoll care centre for children shall be able to take 30 unaccompanied minors who are under the age of 15.

Unaccompanied minors between the ages of 15 to 18 will also be transferred to the care of the child welfare services in the future.

Unaccompanied minor asylum seekers and refugees are a common term used for children and the young people under the age of 18 who have come to Norway.
