Who are they?

The families of major presidential candidates eventually get scrutinized by the press. Anyone remember Billy Carter? 

But media buzz regarding the family of Barack Obama has been slow in coming. We thought we'd help it along.

• Half sister from Indonesia, Maya Soetoro-Ng, is a Buddhist; she campaigns for Barack. Like her famous half-brother, Soetoro-Ng also attended the private Punahou School and received her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 2006. She teaches high-school at La Pietra: Hawaii School for Girls in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also instructs night classes at the University of Hawaii. Soetoro-Ng is married to a Chinese-Canadian.

• Half brother Bernard lives in Nairobi, Kenya, where he runs an auto-parts firm. He is a Muslim. The Chicago Sun-Times questions the paternity of Bernard's father and, therefore, his genetic connection to his famous brother. 

• Half brother Abongo (Roy) Obama, known as Malik, lives in Nyangoma-Kogelo, Kenya. He reportedly runs an electronics store but the Chicago Sun Times adds accountant to his resume. He once argued that the black man must "liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture," according to his famous brother's book. "But the magic of his laughter remains, and we can disagree without rancor." (Then, again, sometimes we need a little rancor.)

• Half sister Auma lives in London.

• The paternity of half brother Abo Obama is uncertian. They may not be siblings. Barack Obama wrote that he noticed something in his half-brother's eyes -- "something that reminded me of young men back in Chicago. An element of guardedness, perhaps, and calculation. The look of someone who realizes early in life that he has been wronged." 

• Half brother Mark Ndesandjo is a physicist. He lives in China where he assists Chinese merchants market products to America. Mark said of his father Barack, Sr., "He was a drunk, who showed no concern for his wife and children." Mark is the son of Barack Obama’s late father and his third wife, American Ruth Nidesand, who directs the up-market Maduri kindergarten in Nairobi. 

• Half brother David Ndesandjo was killed in a motorcycle accident.

• Half brother George Obama is the child of Barack's father's last known relationship and lives in Kenya on $1 per day.

• Half brother Joseph Ndesandjo lives in San Antonia, Texas, where we hear he is owner and president of DHS Security. • Joseph has a resemblance to Obama, but his campaign confirms they are not related. He is Obama's half brother's half brother.

I wonder if there will be a family reunion once Barack gets to the White House?

John McCain has two siblings, a younger brother, Joe, and older sister, Sandy.
