When can we expect a Facebook Phone?
The team of TheFacePhone has released the first version of the Facebook phone - now integrated with the facebook chat
TheChatPhone is a integrated Facebook chat phone.
The Official Facebook's mobile phone clients support iPhone, iPad and Android App and do not have a voice feature . Facebook invest heavily into its web based content but still behind on developing specific versions of their content for specific platforms.
It appears that Facebook do not plan to develop any dedicated hardware that would be called Facebook Phone, so they continue to develop their web and mobile persense using existing mobile phone operating systems like iPhone iOS and Google Android.
Here's another small point: If you take a look at Moto Blur on Motorola's Android phones, or Palm/HP's webOS, or HTC's Sense UI as mentioned earlier, you'll see that many phone manufacturers have already been integrating Facebook tightly. You can post status updates from just about anywhere on the phone. Facebook contacts are often merged with your phone's contacts. Facebook messaging is just another choice in a dropdown menu that includes texts, IMs and emails when you're talking to your friends. And all your friends have their Facebook photos viewable to the point where your phone just uses their profile picture as your contact photo automatically. These are, essentially, Facebook phones.
That's no reason for Facebook to not make a hardware phone, but there is an important point here. Unlike Google and Android, who places restrictions on the API so that other phone OSes can't get the same level of, say, Gmail client performance, Facebook is pretty much open. Why would they make a phone if someone else can make it for them?
TheChatPhone has decided to fill the Gap where Facebook and create both Web and Mobile presence delivering Voice chat capabilities to the Facebook community, it may be the case that eventualy Facebook would release this feature as part of their service, but for now TheChatPhone is the only real option to having a real voice chat between facebook users.
in the next few month TheChatPhone would extend its support from Web to Mobile and allow working thru a wider range of network connectivity (Firewalls etc.) we are looking forward to having you as a user and hope you enjoy the free service which is supported only by advertising.
