A female
Conservative politician on the South Coast of the country has been sentenced to
ten months imprisonment for physical and mental abuse of her daughter. The
penalty of the appeal is the same as the initial hearing.
The woman must
also pay NOK 60,000 in restitution to her daughter, who is today in her
teens, writing the online newspaper. Both courts have placed great emphasis on
her daughter's testimony.
"The
Court of Appeal concluded that the accused is guilty of (...) repeated abuse of
her daughter (...) who has for years been exposed to massive psychological
harassment and on occasion physical violence," said the verdict . The
abuse has been going on for several years, from 2005 to 2012.
Defender Sol
Elden says the woman takes the verdict very heavy, and that it has been
appealed.
- We register
the appellate court's conclusion, but is certainly totally disagree with the
verdict, says Elden.
Despite pleas
from the party, has the woman not sought leave, but has been active in politics
while the case is ongoing. The leader of the Conservative council group would
not comment on the case where it stands now.
- She has been
active until the summer, but now it's summer, he told the online newspaper.
