NCA and WWF – Norway, in co-operation with Care Norway. Med store gassfunn, utforming av ny grunnlov og president- og parlamentsvalg som bakteppe, knyttes det stor spenning til de økonomiske og politiske utsiktene i Tanzania.
Kirkens Nødhjelp og WWF-Norge er de to frivillige organisasjonene i Norge med det mest omfattende arbeidet i Tanzania i år.
Sammen ønsker vi å belyse utfordringene og mulighetene i Norges viktigste samarbeidsland for bistand i denne kritiske fasen av Tanzanias historie. Balanserer Norge sine økonomiske interesser med bistands- og miljøengasjementet?
Problemstillinger som vil bli diskutert på konferansen er: (Fullstendig program lengre ned)
• Vil valget i Tanzania være først skritt på veien mot en mer demokratisk og bærekraftig framtid, med mindre bistandsavhengighet? Eller står vi foran en valgkamp preget av vold og brudd på menneskerettigheter?
• Vil Tanzania klare å forvalte naturrikdommene sine til gode for folk flest og kommende generasjoner? Eller vil hensynet til natur og miljø tape i kampen mot kortsiktig profitt?
• Kan investeringer og internasjonal handel erstatte bistand som driver for utvikling i Tanzania? Hvilken rolle kan norsk næringsliv og sivilsamfunn sammen spille i et slikt skifte?
