Ban on plastic shopping

Minister of the Environment Erik Solheim is considering a ban on plastic shopping bags. Norwegians discard around one billion plastic shopping bags each year.
Solheim points out that China has banned such bags, and that in other countries there is a surtax on plastic shopping bags.
- If so, we can't do less, Solheim says to NRK.
The Minister hopes for a change already this year, either through a parliamentary decision or through cooperation with the shopping industry.
