Norwegian internet
shopping is sky-high

Four out of five Norwegians over 15 years old have been shopping via the Internet, mostly buying tickets for everything from plane trips to sports events. A new study carried out by MMI reveals that about three million Norwegians have made purchases through the internet – this is approximately 80 percent of the population over 15 years old, and represents a 10 percent rise in the past year.
Norwegians tend to prefer Norwegian Internet shops, with fully 84 percent saying they buy from Norwegian sites.
Men between the ages of 25 and 40 living in larger towns/cities are the biggest internet shoppers.
Women are more prone to buying plane tickets, books, and tickets for cultural arrangements.
Both men and women over 60 years old have also become major internet shoppers. This group is a major purchaser in the health-products market.
"We see a shopping pattern almost exactly like what we find in regular stores," said CEO Vibeke Hammer Madsen in HSH (the federation of norwegian commercial and service enterprises).
The study also shows that most people now consider shopping over the internet to be safe.
