Strike threat after wage

talks break down

Negotiations between the Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), aided by the State Arbitrator, broke off on Friday, with the possibility that 40,000 union members may go on strike next week.

he two sides were not able to reach agreement on wages and how to maintain special pension benefits (AFP).

If no settlement is reached by Wednesday, around 40,000 employees will walk out on strike as a first step.

First out would be workers in the building industry and the breweries, auto mechanics, shipyard workers, cleaning crews, newspaper carriers and health care personnel.
