Drive to teach immigrants

The municpality of Oslo is starting a drive to teach more immigrants between the age of 20 and 70 to speak and write Norwegian, Aftenposten reports.

Bente Fredheim in the City's Office for Education says that a large number of immigrants do not know enough Norwegian to function well in the Norwegian society.

However, there  is no exact count of how many falls into this category.

Three consultants have now been hired to visit immigrant groups and directly recruit students to the new courses.
