Policeman charged with
violence at asylum center
A policeman from the Police Aliens Office has been removed from duty, charged with assault against an asylum seeker at the Trandum transition center in Akershus.The policeman is reported to have used violence against an asylum seeker who was about to be expelled from the country, after he had been denied asylum in Norway. The incident was captured by surveillance cameras.
Special investigator Knut Wold says the police takes the incident very seriously.
The charged policeman claims he only followed regulations.
