Country Director- Ethiopia
Our present Country Director will conclude his contract in September 2009 and we therefore seek a new Country Director. The country programme has 42 staff members and a budget of approximately MNOK 46.
Main responsibilities
- Leadership, management and development of the country programme according to Save the Children Norway’s strategies and policies.
- Represent Save the Children Norway in Ethiopia, maintain and strengthen our strong relationships with authorities, donors, partners and other Save the Children Alliance members in-country.
- Promote child rights
- Create an environment that promotes learning and sharing and promotes staff development
- Work with partners to strengthen local capacity.
- Maintain and develop efficient systems and procedures
Experience and qualifications
- University degree
- Relevant work experience, including significant international and management experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluent written and spoken English.
- Good ability to develop and maintain a development programme
- Knowledge of Save the Children Norway’s thematic areas such as child rights, HIV/ Aids or harmful traditional practices is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead and motivate national staff and partners
- Cultural sensitivity
