I once asked a zebra:
Are you black with white stripe or
white with black stripes?
And zebra looked at me and said:
Are you strong with weaknesses or
weak with strenghts?
Are you good with the bad idea or
bad with good ideas?
Are you happy with sad day or
happy day?
Are you good with stupid thoughts or
stupid with clever thoughts?
And so continued, and continued,
and continued it, and never,
never, never, never ask a zebra about
stripes again.
It may be worth remembering this when
we meet people in our lives, and
perhaps especially in the context of faith.
There is always something behind what we see,
a person with hopes, aspirations, good
and bad sides, joy and sorrow –
No matter the appearances or life situation.
