From May 1, Norwegian authorities will increase the application fee for some types of residence permits.

This has been decided by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

As a result of the new fee structure, it will cost NOK 500 less for students, au pairs and researchers with own funds to apply for a residence permit, than for workers.

The application fees for permanent residence permits, citizenship, family immigration permits, travel documents and visitors visas will not be changed. 

The new fee structure:

Immigrant’s passport and travel documents – Persons who has a permit based on their application for protection	0,-
– Persons who are returning to their home country with IOM and are not able to get a passport from their home country	0,-
– Persons over 18 years old, who has a permit which is not based on an application for protection	1.100 NOK
– Persons under 18 years old, who has a permit which is not based on an application for protection	550 NOK
– Persons over 18 years old who previously has had their application for an immigrant's passport/travel document refused	1.100 NOK

– Renewal for persons over 16  years old	450 NOK
– Renewal for persons under 16 years old	270 NOK
