The airline SAS Braathens will be allowed to use fingerprinting as idetification of its passengers after all. The Norwegian Data Protection Registrar had first said no. However, after reviewing the case, the Registrar has now approved the new security system.
SAS Braathen security chief Bjoern Tvete-Berger says this will increase air travel security. The biometric security systems are systems which scan your fingerprints or the iris of your eye. The passengers are first scanned upon checking in, and are then checked for a match before boarding the aircraft. In this way it is ensured that the passenger entering the plane is the same as the one that checked in.
