Students line up for housing

More than 12,000 students looking for housing have put their names down on a waiting list, and the Norwegian Students' Association fears a housing crisis at the start of the coming fall semester.

In both Trondheim and Bergen the waiting lists have doubled compared with last year. In Oslo and in Akershus county more than 5,000 students have put their names are on the waiting list.

Student associations in other parts of the country also report of long waiting lists, Dagsavisen reports.

In the revised National Budget the Government has allocated funds for bulding 1000 new student apartments. In addition, 300 student apartments will be built using money from the Government's financial crisis fund.
