Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a non-governmental organization with close links to the Norwegian labour movement. NPA is involved in long-term development and humanitarian mine-action cooperation in more than 30 countries. We support civil society and local organizations in their endeavour for democracy, gender equality and equitable distribution of resources. NPA have around 70 expatriates abroad per year and around 2500 locally employed staff members. NPA is one of the leading organizations involved in humanitarian mine action. The NPA head office is located in Oslo, Norway.
In Angola NPA has a development and mine action program with a total number of 130 staff, 12 partners and an annual turnover of approximately NOK 50 million.
COUNTRY DIRECTOR ANGOLA
Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) seeks to appoint a new country director to lead our programme in Angola. Applicants must have extensive leadership experience, profound knowledge and experience from international work, and a broad political and social understanding.
The country director has the overall responsibility to implement NPA strategies and long term objectives. The appointment requires close cooperation with the civil society and local partners, national authorities and relevant international donor communities.
Applicants must have relevant formal higher education from a university or institute of higher education. Competence and experience in administration and financial management is necessary. Great importance is attached to cross-cultural communication skills and networking abilities as well as experience in fund raising and donor relations. In addition to proficiency in written and oral English, knowledge of Angola and Portuguese language is an advantage
As extensive travel within Angola should be expected, we emphasise good health and the ability to work under pressure and difficult conditions.
Terms and conditions by agreement including free accommodation, transport and insurance schemes. This is a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal.
