Norway:

Warmest February since 1900

The average temperature in February was 4.6 degrees higher than the normal. It has been milder only once since the year 1900, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

There were very few cold periods and many mild days in February this year.

All parts of the country, including the Svalbard Arctic archipelago, registered temperatures which were unusually high for this time of year.

The warmest February since 1900 was in 1990, when the temperature was 6.8 degrees above average for the winter month.
