Økokrim still wants to investigate a small number of large and complex cases, which often have connections outside Norway, according to their six month report for 2008.
Økokrim's success rate for the first half of 2008 was 79 percent, compared to last year’s total of 95 percent.
The report shows that the task force has 46 cases under investigation. Nine of these have to do with tax and customs evasion, five are connected with breaches in finance and securities law, two are concerned with corruption, ten deal with the handling of stolen goods and money laundering and four have to do with environmental crime.
Økokrim has had 27 court cases so far this year, compared to 34 throughout all of last year.
The task force has impounded NOK 77.6 million (USD 15 million) so far this year, compared with NOK 2.4 billion last year. Last year's relatively high figure is the result of the Finance Credit case.
