Navarsete new leader

of the Agrarian Party

Minister of Transport and Communication Liv Signe Navarsete has been elected new leader of the Agrarian Party (Senterpartiet), replacing Aaslaug Haga, who was forced to stand down in June.

The new leader of the Senterparti (SP), told the party's national congress that SP under her leadership would continue in the present red-green government coalition.

She also spent time refuting the impression spread in the media that she would take money from infrastructure projects in Eastern Norway and spend it on roads and rails in the rural western part of the country.

She said the whole nation needed to be built, including central regions.

- I can promise that investments on railroads around the cities will be increased by billions over the next few years, Navarsete said.
