pay visit to Tanzania

The Norwegian Parliament`s Health and Care Committee will visit Tanzania from Monday to Tuesday.

The purpose of the committee`s visit to the country is to familiarise themselves with the health care system in Tanzania in view of the Norway-Tanzania Partnership Initiative on maternal and child health (NTPI).
In 2007 Norway and Tanzania entered into NTPI, which is a co-operation to reduce maternal and child-mortality in Tanzania (Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5).
The delegation will meet with Health and Social Welfare Permanent Secretary Wilson Mukama and Chief Medical Officer Dr. D. Mtasiwa on Monday.
The delegation will visit Coast Region to learn more about the achievements and the challenges facing the Tanzanian health systems, and in particular to look at maternal and child health care services.
The delegation will also meet with UN agencies involved in the UN Joint Programme on maternal and infant mortality (WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF, ILO and WFP) and NGOs working in this field.
After their visit to the country, the delegation will travel to Mozambique.
