Increasing food prices
from January 2009
The cost of food for Norwegian consumers may increase by up to 10 per cent from January, NRK reports. The reason is more expensive cattle feed and fertilizer.
The Government has refused to compensate for the higher prices through subsidies over the national budget for 2009.
It is estimated that the rising food costs will mean an extra NOK 2000 to 2500 in food costs for a family of four.
