Author Anne-Cath. Vestly

dies at 88



One of Norway's most beloved and productive authors of children's books, Anne-Cath. Vestly has died at the age of 88, at a nursing home in her hometown of Mjoendalen.

Many of her more than 50 books have been the basis for popular children's films. In several of them she herself played the role of "Grandma" (Mormor).

Several of her most popular books have beeen translated into other languages, Eight children and a bulldozer, Eight Children In Winter and Eight Children Move House, to name a few.

Vestly brought children's litterature into modern times, writing about alternative family relations, astonishing grownups when she wrote about a family where the mother was a lawyer and the father staying home keeping house!

Vestly has won several litterature prizes and honorary awards.
