A TOP local executive linked to an international gold mining company, along with a local firm involved in tanzanite mining, were amongst benefactors who yesterday helped former finance minister Basil Mramba to fulfill tough bail conditions and at last gain release from remand prison after spending a total of seven nights behind bars.
On the other hand, former energy and minerals minister Daniel Yona needed no such help, producing personal asset title deeds of sufficient value to obtain his own release after spending the same number of nights in remand prison.
And after a protracted battle against the legal odds against them, the two prominent ex-ministers in the third phase government of ex-president Benjamin Mkapa thus yesterday managed to walk out of the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam as free men once more pending formal hearing and determination of their trial. ....more>>>>>
