Foreign prostitutes

leave Norway

Foreign street prostitutes are fleeing Norway before the new and stricter Norwegian law against the purchase of sexual activity takes effect on January 1st, the newspaper Dagsavisen reports.

- Indications are that around 50 per cent of the East European and 40 per cent of the Nigerian prostitutes have already left, says Olav Laegdene of the Nadheim Women's Center to the newspaper.

According to Laegdene, many of the women have themselves said that the new ban on sex trafficking is the main reason for their decision to leave.

There are also fewer customers on the streets, he says.
