intensify verbal

attacks on Tanzania

KENYAN politicians and the media have stepped up verbal attacks on Tanzania, accusing it of undermining the East African Community (EAC) regional integration process. 

In the latest accusations, a Kenyan member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) has attacked President Jakaya Kikwete for ’’failing to interact with the assembly.’’ 

’’By now, the president of Tanzania would have had time to meet EALA members. MPs would like to interact with heads of partner states,’’ said Kenyan EALA member Clarkson Otieno Karani.

He added: ’’We have been in Tanzania for two years, but we have never had the opportunity to meet that head of state (Kikwete).’’
