The Nobel Peace Prize 2008 was on Wednesday presented to Martti Ahtisaari for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts.
The Prize was presented to the former Finnish President and diplomat during a ceremony at the Oslo City Hall, at 13:00 local time.
Prior to the ceremony, Ahtisaari was received by King Harald at the Royal Palace.
In the evening there was a torchlight parade in down-town Oslo in honour of the Peace Prize winner.
Later there was a dinner in the Prize Winner's honour at the Oslo Grand Hotel.
