More snow and wind

over Northern Norway

The low pressures with snow and strong winds continue to drift in from the sea over the counties of Finnmark and Troms, causing havoc on the roads, closing airports, cancelling ferry services and damaging property.

The Chief of Police at Honningsvaag on Wednesday again appealed to the public to stay indoors, and although roofs were torn off two more homes, there are no reports of injuries.

School were also closed and pupils escorted home, NRK reports.

With closed roads, cancelled flights and ferries, many hamlets, including Baatsfjord og Berlevaag are isolated for the fourth day. Many shops have run out of fresh goods like milk and other dairy products.

The weather was turning milder on Thursday, but the strong wind continued.
