Norway:
Increasing unemployment
in April
Unemployment continued to increase in Norway in April, although not as much as in other European countries. 72.700 persons were registered without work last month. This is 2.8 per cent of the total Norwegian work force.
The highest increase in unemployment is among those engaged in the Norwegian building and contruction industry.
Within the EU nations, the average unemployment rate increased from 8.7 per cent to 8.9 per cent of the total work force from March to April.
The highest unemployment rates within the EU are found in Spain, with more than 17 per cent and in Ireland with more than 10 per cent.
