Heatwave -

a shortage of fans and

air conditioning systems

The present heatwave with temperatures up around 30 Celcius over much of Norway the last two weeks has resulted in a shortage of fans and portable air conditioning systems in the nation's appliance stores.

The largest chain stores like Elkjoep and Expert report record rush, and having to put in extra orders.

Store Manager at Elkjoep in Sarpsborg, Anders Foss, says he has never experienced anything like this.

- On Monday morning there was a line-up outside the store before we had opened. And people asked for fans and air condiditoning systems in order to get some relief. We cleaned the shelves, but have a new shipment coming in already this morning, Foss says.

To the relief of many, the Met Office is forecasting more unsettled weather in the south already this coming weekend, with lower temperatures.

This week the south of Norway har boasted temperatures higher than in the holiday spots in Spain, Italy and Crete.
