The Oslo World Music Festival opens

Blind musicians; Mariam and Amadou from Mali. This was from last year.

The Oslo World Music Festival is arranged this week, for the 16th year running, with conserts at various venues in the Norwegian capital. The Opening Party is at Cosmopolite on Tuesday.

For seven days on eleven stages you can hear over three hundred artists from around the world in Oslo.

We quote from the Festival program: Rodolfo Mederos and Miguel Poveda will open this year’s festival.

On the last day of the festival, Cheb Khaled, the King of Rai, will take his audience to his musical universe with his powerful voice, Arab string players and intense North African dance rhythms.

Between the opening and closing concerts a diverse array of world musicians will perform, including Tinariwen, Oumou Sangare, Ojos de Brujo, Gilberto Gil, Katia Guerreiro and Tony Allen.

The Festival ends on November 8th.
