Boy's Harrowing 911 Call As Gunmen Strike
A terrified boy begged the emergency services to send police to his home while three robbers threatened his parents at gunpoint, it has been revealed.
The gunmen broke into the seven-year-old's home in Norwalk, Southern California, and said they would take "whatever they wanted".
They grabbed the boy's father and mother while the boy and his six-year-old sister hid in the bathroom and locked the door.
In a recording of the 911 call released by authorities, the boy said: "Can you come really fast? Please! Please! ... They have guns.
"There's some guy who's going to kill my mom and dad. Bring cops. A lot of them! ... And soldiers, too."
The attackers then broke into the bathroom and found the children.
At that point in the recording, a scream is heard.
Afterwards one of the suspects grabbed the boy and asked him who he called, police said.
When the boy responded by saying "911", the gunmen fled without hurting the family or taking any possessions.
Capt Pat Maxwell, from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, hailed the boy as a hero.
"If not for the brave and educated actions of the seven-year-old boy, this might have ended tragically," he said.
The three suspects remain at large.
