Norway

Open to limited traffic in Bodø
control area Northern Norway

Avinor, together with the Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant airlines decided to open for limited traffic between Namsos airport and Tromsø airport, for a limited duration from 09:00 p.m.today, Friday 16 April. The decision was made on the basis of the latest meteorological data.

The control center has in Bodø has opened for traffic between Trondheim and Stokmarknes. This concerns: Namsos, Rørvik (Ryum), Brønnøysund (Brønnøy), Mosjøen (Kjærstad), Sandnessjøen (Stokka), Mo i Rana (Røssvold), Bodø, Røst, Værøy, Leknes, Svolvær (Helle),  Stokmarknes (Skagen), Andøya (Andenes), Harstad-Narvik (Evenes), Narvik (Framnes), Bardufoss, Tromsø and helicopter traffic to/from Heidrun. The situation is being reviewed consecutively. It is likely that the airspace around Bodø, Lofoten, and Helgeland can be held open for 12 hours, while the airspace over Værnes can be held open for about 6 hours.

Ambulance flights will be given priority  - and some passenger flights.  In other words, not opened to normal flow of traffic. Passengers should contact their airline and/or travel agent for more information on each flight.

Airspace over other areas of the country, including major airports such as Oslo Airport Gardermoen, Stavanger Airport, Sola, and the Bergen International are still closed airspace.

Airspace over Norway was closed from 10:00 am Thursday 15 April because of the ash cloud from the volcano eruption in Iceland.

Health authorities and the Civil Aviation Authority handle questions about the air ambulance transport.

Updated at 15:35 CET on April 16th.
