Admits to manipulation.
Fredrikstad Mayor Eva Kristin Andersen has insisted that the controversial photo of her in a motorcycle gang Bandidos sweatshirt was a fake, with little support - until now.
Andersen told a Thursday afternoon press conference that a Progress Party colleague of hers had now admitted to faking the photo, newspaper Fredriksstad Blad reported on its web site.
"It is an even heavier burden that the person behind this is a good friend of mine and a former childhood sweetheart. He wished me no harm, but it was meant as a joke," Andersen said at the press conference.
Several experts had found no sign of photo manipulation and on Thursday a source told newspaper Fredriksstad Blad that the photo was genuine, and that it had been taken in the home of the man who has now confessed to faking the picture.
At the press conference Mayor Andersen challenged the anonymous source to come forward, and said she was ready to confront the person, and that the story that she was at her Progress Party colleague's house and in the Bandidos sweatshirt was untrue.
The man who reportedly faked the picture did not take part in the press conference and Aftenposten.no's repeated attempts to contact him were not successful.
