Karume speaks out

President Amani Abeid Karume yesterday ruled out holding direct talks on power sharing with Mr Seif Shariff Hamad of the Civic United Front (CUF).
Speaking publicly for the first time over the stalled Mwafaka talks, President Karume said it was inconceivable that two people could be left to decide on behalf of other Zanzibaris on what form the isles should take.
President Karume´s remarks were apparently in reference to a call by CUF for President Jakaya Kikwete to intervene and bring together the two leaders to the negotiating table. Click here for full text....
