Deadlines for the processing

of appeals in the UDI

How to comply with deadlines for the processing of appeals in the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

The decision you have received from the UDI contains information about the possibility of appealing and the deadline for submitting an appeal. The deadline for appealing is three weeks from the date on which you or your lawyer received the decision.

The UDI is tightening its procedures for processing appeal cases. This means that it is important that you send your appeal before three weeks have elapsed. If you submit an appeal after three weeks have elapsed, the UDI will consider whether the appeal should be rejected or whether there are special reasons for nonetheless considering the appeal. As a rule, an appeal that is submitted too late will be rejected.

If you submit an appeal before three weeks have elapsed, but wish to send more information later, you will be given a deadline of two weeks to send the information. Once the two weeks have elapsed, the UDI will consider the appeal regardless of whether or not it has received more information.
