Mabadiliko makubwa ya intaneti yamefanyika jana, toka ianze kutumika miaka 40 iliyopita, kwenye mkutano mkuu wa shirika la kuthibiti intaneti – ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, uliofayika mjini Seoul, Korea ya Kusini.

Kuanzia sasa, anwani za mtandao zitakazokuwa na herufi za lugha zingine badala ya kutumia herufi za Kilatini pekee. Hadi sasa herufi zinazokubalika kutengeza majina ya anwani za mitandao ni 26 tu za Kilatini.

Maombi ya kwanza yatakubaliwa kuanzia Novemba 16 mwaka huu. Na ICANN inatarajia kuwa kuanzia katikati ya 2010, anwani za intaneti zenye herufi za lugha zingine zinazoishia kivingine; zitaanza kutumika.

Kwenye mkutano huo mkuu wa ICANN, imekubalika kuwa kuanzia sasa "domeni = domain" hazitakuwa zinaishia tu na ”dot com”, ”dot net”, ”dot org”, n.k.

Watumiaji wa intaneti, wanaweza kutengeza anwani za intaneti zitakazokuwa zinaishia na majina mama wanayotaka, kitu ambacho hadi sasa hakikuwezekana.

Mtu anaweza kujitengenezea tovuti inayoishia kama atakavyo, kama mfano unavyoonyesha hapo chini:

Investors engaged in sexual harassment

SOME investors in Zanzibar have been demanding sex with female employees, the Zanzibar Minster of Labour, Youths, Children, and Women Development Ms Asha Abdallah Juma said today.

Responding to the main question from Mr Ali Denge Makame (CCM- Amani), the minister told the House, "demand for sex is among complaints from youths looking for jobs at from foreign investment projects.

"But unfortunately these are mere allegations because the females have not put it writing," the minister told the House. Mr Makame wanted to know efforts by the ministry in reducing conflict between workers and investors.

The minister asked all female employees claiming to have been harassed by employers who demand sexual favour to come-up with evidence so that the dishonest investors could be taken to task.

She said that her ministry has received about 39 complaints from employees protesting against being expelled in questionable circumstance, mainly in North and Urban region.

She said that 29 complaints had been resolved and the affected workers were reinstated or paid their benefits.

Anne Holmstrøm, 27 mother of two girls, one and three years old, was slain with a 40 inch long machete by her husband, 35. The husband who comes from Tanzania and Anne met in 2002 during a trip to the country.

The suspect is now in police custody. In his statement to the police, the suspect has claimed that he cannot remember anything, but on a phone call to a friend three hours before his arrest, he confessed to killing Anne with the machete, that they received as a wedding present.

According to bt.dk, Anne Holmstrøm had left her husband because he cheated on her during a vacation in Tanzania last summer. He had also threatened many times to beat both her and her children to death.

Deputy Police Superintendent Henning Svendsen told bt.dk that the police knew about the threats, but Anne did not want him arrested or given a restraining order because she did not believe that he would get serious about the threats.

Anne had moved to her parents’ house but on the weekend of murder had gone back the apartment she shared with her husband. The couple's two children who are being taken care of by Anne’s parents were in kindergarten at the time of the slaying.

The murder was very brutal. The entire kitchen floor in the 61 square-meter apartment in Skovlyporten was covered with blood including all the walls. The bloody machete was found on the kitchen table in the apartment in Holte together with a bloody serrated kitchen knife when the body was found.

Anne Holmstrøm had apparently just entered the apartment when she was killed. She was still dressed in raingear, as the murderer, according to forensic experts, struck her at least 10 times in the face and scalp with the machete.

At around 15:15pm Monday neighbors heard a scream from the apartment and later in the day both a neighbor and the police were phoned by friends in Sweden who were worried about her. The husband had apparently called friends in Sweden and informed them that he had "done something foolish".

Later a neighbor went to the apartment and found Anne’s body. The police were already on the way to the apartment and arrived a few minutes later. The accused was gone by the time the police arrived. After an intensive search, the husband was arrested at Tagensvej in Copenhagen. At the time of his arrest, he was armed with a large butcher knife, but he did not resist arrest.

Operations postponed

due to swine flu

The swine flu epidemic has forced the Norwegian National Hospital (Rikshospitalet) in Oslo to postpone operations on children and patients with heart problems, due to a shortage of surgeons and nurses.

The situation is also becoming difficult at the intensive care units at several other large hospitals in Norway.

The National Hospital in Oslo has had to ask patients to come back for their operations next week.

Norwegian health authorities are now investigating into the possibility that the swine flu epidemic in Norwais of a different strain than that which has hit the other Nordic countries.

In Norway altogether 13 persons have so far died from the swine flu, while only two have died in Sweden and one in Denmark.

Up to now this has been seen as coincidence, and the fact that a large number of Norwegian travel abroad during their vacation.

Extended reintegration support

Until December 31st 2009, the first 400 returnees who apply for voluntary return will be offered NOK 10 000 in reintegration support.

Extended reintegration support is intended to make it easier for those who do not have residence permits in Norway to return voluntarily, by giving them financial assistance to re-establish their lives in their home country.

The amount of NOK 10 000 is intended to help to ease the initial period after returning.

Persons who return voluntarily to Iraq, Afghanistan and Burundi will receive reintegration support through separate schemes. They will not receive this grant in addition.

Language problems for immigrants

Only 30 per cent of the immigrants that came to Norway in 2003 have entered and passed an examination in oral Norwegian, and only 23 per cent have passed a written exam in Norwegian.

Over the past four years the Government has spent more than NOK 5 million on course in the language and social studies.

Up to now the language test has been volountary, but from next year it will be mandatory, Aftenposten writes. The goal is that all immigrants will learn enough Norwegian to participate actively in the Norwegian society.

Due to the poor results so far, the Government is now extending the mandatory language courses from 300 to 600 hours.
